CTO Outsourcing Pays Big Dividends to Small Companies
Technology Leadership and Web Collaboration Services Give Quick Start
(Phoenix, AZ January 17, 2005) --
Radiance Medspas (www.radiancemedspas.com) will open its second Arizona location, at 2525 E.
Camelback Road in Phoenix this month. Radiance Medspa is an Arizona startup that targets the
affluent Baby Boomer who resists looking his or her age – and that's almost all of us.
At Radiance Medspa facilities, typical spa treatments like peels, microdermabrasion, laser hair
removal, and injectibles Botox and Restylane are given under the direction of a physician in a spa
environment.
Back in August, as Radiance began to grow significantly, the company engaged another Arizona company,
TecServ, to manage IT and provide technology leadership. One of TecServ's directors, Stephen Heitz, now
serves as acting CTO for Radiance and has become a strategic partner, providing individual Medspas with
a turnkey, secure network solution connected back to the Radiance corporate offices for management and
reporting.
Outsourcing its technology needs to TecServ has already provided Radiance with a best fit technology
platform for the Medspas, saving the franchisees over $175,000 annually.
In November, Radiance finalized its project management timeline and tasks for opening new franchises.
A Medspa will take just 169 days from franchise agreement to grand opening. In looking for a method
to streamline the communication with all parties involved (Radiance, the franchisee, and key vendors),
TecServ reviewed a number of collaboration and project management solutions.
Together, TecServ and Radiance decided that web collaboration service GroveSite (www.grovesite.com),
still another Arizona company, provided the flexibility to do more than just project management; it also
enhances communication and provides other collaboration tools like issue tracking and file repositories.
Because each franchisee receives its own GroveSite, now the franchisee, the architect, and Radiance
can all review a drawing and track progress. On each Medspa site, the timeline to grand opening consolidates
and manages hundreds of tasks, milestones, and meetings. GroveSite also allows Radiance to manage all of the
franchisees from a central point. Radiance Medspa Franchise Group's vendors, including architects, contractors,
and suppliers, collaborate across all franchises as well.
Fast forward to 2005. Radiance Medspa Franchise Group, using its patent-pending franchise process,
will assign each franchisee a customized franchisee communications GroveSite to ensure that it will only
take 169 days from execution of franchise agreement to grand opening. And according to Radiance president
Charles Engelmann, "because of this system, we can roll out more quickly than most franchises. In
fact, by the time you read this, four more Radiance Medspas will have opened in Arizona!"
