Calendars

Calendars are another GroveSite page type. Calendars can be used to display group schedules, meetings and even project milestones.

How to add a Calendar page

  • Click 'Turn on edit.'
  • Click [new page]
  • Select page type = Calendar
  • Click the Next button at the bottom of the form.
  • Enter navigation text
  • Enter Page Heading (often the same as the navigation text), sub heading (optional), page text (optional) and select the default page view. Also enter the number of months to display in the calendar (the default is one).
  • Click the Next button at the bottom of the form.
  • Select page security = 'participants can see this page' OR 'participants can see and update this page.' Note: you may also want to set up a calendar for Moderators. If so, select page security = 'only moderators/administrators can see this page'
  • Click the Next button at the bottom of the form.
  • Position the page within the list of current pages in your site.
  • Click the Finish button to save the new page.

Choose Months

  • Click on [Choose Months]
  • Pick a starting month to display when the calendar is opened.
  • Pick a number of months to display.
  • Click Display

Add a New Event

On the Calendar page, click on [Add a New Event]

Enter the following:

  • Event name: Enter name of event. This field is required.
  • Location: Enter location of event. This field may be left blank.
  • Notes: Enter notes related to event. This field may be left blank.
  • Date: Enter date of event. Format should be entered as MM/DD/YYYY. This field is required.
  • Start time: Enter start time of the event. Format should be HH:MM a/pm.
  • End time: Enter end time of the event.Format should be HH:MM a/pm.
  • Time Zone: Enter time zone from drop down list.
  • Create Series of Events: Check the radial button 'yes', enter 'End Date' and check the boxes for the days that you would like the event to repeat on the calendar.

Tasks on a Project Plan Page in the current site marked as a milestone can be viewed on a calendar page.

  • Turn on Edit
  • Click Edit next to the calendar page
  • Check the milestones box to show milestone tasks for the current site on this page.
  • Click Save

Add Subsites to Calendar Page

The Calendar includes a roll-up feature. Events and milestone tasks from subsites can be viewed on the calendar page on the main site as well as the subsites.

  • Turn on Edit
  • Click Edit next to the calendar page
  • Check the Subsites box to include calendar events from subsites. (Events include events added directly to the calendar and milestone tasks from project plan pages.)
  • Click Save
