Using your own domain name (URL)

Want to develop and maintain your site with GroveSite, but use your own domain name?

Suppose you're a small business or organization that has already purchased and registered a domain name, e.g. www.xyzcompany.com, but you want to use GroveSite so that you can easily update your content whenever you want!

If your domain registrar can create/edit host records...

  1. Go to your domain registrar's control panel page.
  2. Login to your account there
  3. Select the option to create or edit a host record for your website (i.e. www.xyzcompany.com)
  4. Enter the GroveSite IP address: 69.7.26.174
  5. Return to your GroveSite account
  6. Select Org Admin in the top menu, and then click on [Adv Options] next to the site you want to update
  7. Enter your site's URL (www.xyzcompany.com) into the Site DNS Name field and save your changes
  8. It may take a day or two for your change at your registrar to take effect.

If you only have the ability to do forwarding or redirects, then...

  1. Go to your domain registrar's control panel page.
  2. Login to your account there
  3. Select the option to FRAME 'forward' your domain name
  4. Enter the GroveSite URL for your site: grovesite.com/orgname/sitename
  5. When you save your changes, you should be able to test very quickly. Frame forwarding does not rely on DNS to be updated.
